Cocoa, smores and cookies will be served around the fireplace in the reception lounge as sales begin this weekend at Gladstone Homes' Eaglecrest at Grand Reserve, a development in Yorkville. Incentives for early buyers will be offered.

Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Officials from Mid-America Bank will be on hand with information about mortgages and pre-approvals. Similar festivities are planned for Feb. 19 and 20, too.

Gladstone Homes plans 90 single-family homes -- within walking distance of Grande Reserve's Aquatic Center and Clubhouse. Base prices range from $300,000 to $500,000. Sizes range from 3,055 to 4,012 square feet. Many plans have 4 bedrooms, 21/2 baths and 3-car garages.

"First-floor studies -- an excellent place for a home office -- are standard," said Greg Harvey, the sales manager.

"Homes by Gladstone are known for their attractive architectural touches -- tray ceilings, crown moldings and wainscoting," said Dave Bolger, the company's founder and president. "Our customers repeatedly tell us that, beyond great construction and materials, it's our spacious floor plans and design details that lead them to choose Gladstone."

The company is building in five other developments: Thornberry Woods in Woodridge, Heritage Oaks in Plainfield, Woodland Meadows in Gilberts and Moose Lake Estates in North Aurora.

"We built our first home on a single parcel of infill land in 1989," Bolger said.

Additional locations are planned in 2005, including Waterford in Elgin and Grande Park in Plainfield.
