As it approaches the milestone of building its 1,000th home, the firm that opened its doors more than 15 years ago as Gladstone Builders and Developers Inc. now will be marketed as Gladstone Homes.

"We're building roughly 200 homes a year now, moving into the ranks of some of the larger, multi-community homebuilders in the area," said Dave Bolger, Gladstone founder and president. "To sustain this growth, we recently launched an advertising campaign and, through that planning process, came to realize our identity really should reflect our focus: homes."

Along with the new name, Gladstone Homes introduced a new logo and theme, "A lasting impression behind every door," on signs recently erected at seven communities in which it is building homes.

"Our customers repeatedly tell us that, beyond great construction and materials, it's our spacious, easily customized floor plans and timeless, elegant design detail that leads them to choose Gladstone," Bolger said.

Value also is a deciding factor. Beyond the initial purchase of its fair-priced, high-quality homes, data shows that the appraisal value of a Gladstone home increases an average of 10 percent per year, compared to an estimated industry average of 6 percent.

"This means that many of our customers are seeing six-figure increases in the appraisal value of their home in as little as three years," Bolger said. "That's truly a lasting impression." The new identity incorporates an updated corporate color scheme and typeface. The primary color is burgundy, and gold is used as an accent. The type employs a classic contrast of a clean, all-caps type with handwritten script.

"The elegant colors, typeface and overall design were selected to convey that Gladstone Homes is a premier builder of quality, high-end homes," said Scott Multer, marketing director for Gladstone Homes, who developed the new identity with Chicago-based ad agency Centerpoint Marketing.

Gladstone Builders and Developers Inc. built its first home on a single parcel of in-fill land in 1989. Today, Gladstone Homes offers 12 different single-family and four different town house floor plans.

It is developing homes in seven distinctive Chicagoland communities: Thornberry Woods of Woodridge, Heritage Oaks of Plainfield, Woodland Meadows of Gilberts, Moose Lake Estates of North Aurora, Water's Edge of Plainfield, Windemere at Grande Park in Plainfield and Eaglecrest at Grande Reserve in Yorkville.
